Artist Statement

Monica Meza was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up painting and creating cartoons. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art from California State University Fresno and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her professional career. Meza is known for pushing creative boundaries through art and was the illustrator for the critically acclaimed Love Makes a Family book series (which highlights and celebrates the lives of alternative families) and the author and illustrator for Adan, Go to Sleep (a modern bedtime book for babies). She is currently in development for the animated series The Last Twankle and animated feature / graphic novel, Benny the Baboon.
